In celebration of International Education Week, we are holding a Craft Day in the Link Lounge featuring Rangoli Art and Origami. Rangoli is a traditional form of art originating in India and its most important element is being colourful. Origami is art of paper folding, often associated with Japanese culture.

Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre Virtual Tour (virtual)

Loyalist College students and staff are invited to tour the Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre (SPWC) ‘virtually’ on Wednesday, November 17 at 7 pm. The SPWC aims to help all injured and orphaned wildlife and release them back into the wild. Every year over 4,200 mammals, birds and reptiles are admitted to the SPWC, and most are released successfully. During this one-hour presentation, you will learn about SPWC’s function and role in the community. You will also have an opportunity to see the SPWC’s rehabilitation clinic and learn about the process of admission and treatment of wildlife.

This is free half day certification that teaches participants to recognize and engage persons who might be having thoughts of suicide and to connect them with community resources trained in suicide intervention. SafeTALK stresses safety while challenging taboos that inhibit open talk about suicide.

Mental Health First Aid Certification Training (virtual)

Sign up to participate in the Mental Health First Aid certification. This training is partially funded, but students must pay a $50 non-refundable deposit to enroll (cost is $150/student) and will be limited to 15 students/session.

Students must engage in pre-work and be available to participate in the training for the entire day. Mental Health First Aid is an important certification for anyone planning to work in health care, social work or supports, recreation, or justice studies.
